    Over 11 years we have had close collaboration with the Global Leader of measurement systems production in the area of Quality Assurance. Throughout this time our regular partner turned to us with the following task for different devices delivery: QA outsourcing of top-class specialists for desktop and embedded devices. We must select testers who could not only provide a high-level service, but also ensure the smooth operation of distributed QA teams in different parts of the world and different time zones.

    Our team is familiar with expected technologies (C, C++,C#), but for these projects, we had to select specialists at the intersection of technologies: IT, construction and industrial. 

    These QA engineers should be familiar with the specifics of electronic engineering, and understand which parts of the equipment are responsible for what. It was necessary to work not only with web solutions, but also to know the peculiarities of completely different devices, which have different requirements and work in different conditions, at different heights / depths, and must meet industry standards.

    Moreover, specialists had to seamlessly join the international team of testers and work on Agile technology.

    Solution

    To select a team, we have implemented our 3 stage hiring process:

    1. technical assessment
    2. project fit assessment
    3. company-culture assessment

    The team was large and consisted, depending on the project, from 10 to 40 people and was geographically located in several European countries and India as well. Everyone had only a 1 day time slot at 15:00 to adjust the Agile technology work. Therefore, while selecting personnel, we focused on the most disciplined specialists, since otherwise it would be impossible to ensure an uninterrupted workflow.

    Our engineers have taken part in the whole cycle software development process for measuring, alignment, and detection tools such as laser range meter, rotating laser level, concrete scanner, autonomous robots, different detectors and many more. We have prepared and implemented an environment for Automated Tests executed on the desktop and embedded devices. The automation was based on the image recognition algorithm, limiting the effort needed for its maintenance.
